October Love With Food Box Review

This is my first box for Love with Food, and while i am not in love, i am definitely in like! Octobers box arrived in a pretty red box that kind of looked like a Christmas present. When i opened it i was surprised to see that the entire box was filled with delicious food.

Before i go on to tell you more let me tell you a little bit about this subscription. It is 10 dollars (plus 2 for shipping) a month, you receive 6+ gourmet samples, discounts for purchasing full sized items, earn points to use in the store, cancel any time, free recipes and best of all a box of food is donated to a hungry child. So you are getting a treat and doing good for someone else, food and food for the soul!

The items i received are the following:
Numi Organic Pu-erh Tea-
This tea tasted so natural! I felt like i was having armor therapy while drinking this tea. I got more energy from this tea then most of the black coffee beverages that i drink. This product has multiple benefits and is a lower fat option to coffee drinks since it has natural flavor. Just don't drink at night, and it makes a very flavorful iced tea! Flavors include jasmine, ginger, even chocolate!

Enjoy Life Foods Not Nuts Seeds and Fruit Mountain Mambo Mix-
I was a little skeptical about this. I thought it was anther trail mix tasting product, but, it tasted nothing like trail mix. It was a sweet mix of chocolate chips, still moist dried fruits, and a mix of seeds. Crunchy, soft, sweet, and savory. This is a great pick me up snack for a long after noon. Even though it is a small pack it took care of my 3pm hunger and allowed me to feel like i chose a healthier snack then a chocolate bar.

Nature's Kick Blackberrys Blossm Honey Straws
Liquid nector sticks? These struck me as very curious. I snipped the end of off and let my son have a naturaly sweet snack. He loved these! It was like a natural and grown up version of a pixi stick that kids like too! I also used one in my Pu-erh Numi tea. These are perfect to throw in your purse since they are no mess and they are so much healtier then sugar and sugar alternatives!

Natasha's Health Nut Cookies in Cranberry Orange Cookies-
This soft, crumbly, cookie tasted like something i would have backed myself. Sugar free, gluten free, and reduced carbs, is great for those watching their weights. The sweetness comes from the fruit flavours and not from sugar which is a nice difference

Go Go Squeez AppleApple-
This little bag of apple sauce was perfect for my two year old! He ate it in under a minuet and i love that it is healthy and natural for him. It is portable so adult or child youy can have a fruit snack with you when you go out. One of the recipies this month including using this to make pinaple shrimp dip!

Snikiddy All Natural Baked Fries in Cheddar Cheese-
I choose this snack to keep for myself. I love cheese fries and this all natural baked option seemed like something i would enjoy! Each crispy fry had the perfect amount of cheese flavor. This bag was the perfect size for a snack and i could picture pairing this with a sandwhich or as a snack by itself.

Mrs. May's Naturals White Sesame Acai Strawberry Strips
This was a snockingly delicious snack. Crispsy, crunchy, sweet. I loved these. Not too sweet, not too over powering just the right amount of seeds and fruit. The glaze over the seeds also had a great flavour. This little pack was enough to make me feel satisfied and the weight loss powers of acai along with the antioxidents contained in strawberries and low fat sesame seeds this is a better option then a vending machine purchase, or a glazed peanut bar.

Some of the Intro Cards included:

What i really like about this service is the food range is so large that there is something for everyone in your family, or just a variety of products for you to try. I like that there are so many products and that they are decent in size. Many of the recipies correspond with items that come in the box, so you can taste them and then decide to buy them, or use them in a recipie. If you a foodie or like trying new snacks, feel like you are stuck in a food rut, or just want something differnt, this is a great choice and cheap enough to keep both your stomach and wallet satisfied!

Easy Chocolate Cake

While i love moist and fluffy cake i also love rich, dense, flavourful, cakes. This cake is a hybrid of cake and brownie. Dense and chocolatly like a brownie but without the thick fudge taste. This easy home made recipie will have your friends wondering why they have been making boxed cake for so long!
Ingredients:
An 8oz bar of 70% coca broken into smalle peices
2 sticks of butter
4 eggs (seperated)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup almonds (optional)
cake pan (circle)
butter/crisco/oil for greasing the pan
parchment paper
heatproof bowl (or metal mixing bowl)
wisk
pot
First you need to preheat the oven to 325 F. While it is heating up seperate your eggs, and gather your ingredients. Take a pot and fill it with about a cup of water, and place your heat proof or metal bowl on top, the bowl should sit on the edges of the pot and not touch the bottom or the water. Place the chocolate and the butter into this bowl and stir until the butter and chocolate have melted together.
While this sits wisk the egg yolks and sugar together. Once done pour the melted chocolate butter mixture into the egg and sugar. Mix. Add flour and almonds folding it in. In another bowl wisk the egg whites until they have a thick and stiff consistancy. Add the whites in slowly to losen the folded flour mixture. Continue to do this until there is no more egg whites left.
Your pan should be greased with a peice of wax or parchment paper covering the bottom, pour your cake mix in. Let bake for 30 minutes. It will seem to wobble in the center but this is fine. Afte it is cooled for about 15 mins top with whatever you like! Rasberries, cool whip, even vanilla ice cream!
